Rustom V. Divecha
Rustom V. Divecha lovingly known as "Divecha Master" joined the Bai Virbaijee Soparivala Parsi High School in 1952. He passed his Matric from the B.V.S. in 1941. From a very young age his passion to learn and teach was great. In 1945 he completed his Bachelor in Science and started teaching Science and Mathematics at the Bijlani Institute. Coming from a middle class family he worked his way up, earned and educated himself. He joined the Sind Madressa where he worked from 1946-1952. While he was working he finished his course for the Sind Teachers Certificate in 1948.

He joined the B.V.S. in 1952 he started teaching Science and Mathematics to the secondary grade. His love to learn did not stop and he completed his law degree - LLB in 1955, while he was a teacher at the school.

Divecha Master was offered a Fulbright Scholarship and was sent to

the United States of America for the Teachers Exchange program in 1958-1959. He was sent to Washington D.C. and Kansas to teach and learn how the U.S. teaching system worked. He received his Diploma in Education and Fulbright degree from the U.S.A. He was known for the positive influence that he portrayed of Pakistan while he represented his country in a foreign land.

He excelled in what he did and was made the Vice Principal of the B.V.S. in 1965. After the sudden death of Principal Behram Minwalla he was made the Principal in 1967. Divecha Master spent his entire life studying and doing research. The school made a lot of progress during his tenure and his students today are on very high posts and are spread all over the world.

He published the McGrawhill Pakistan School Atlas and wrote books for class one to five that became the textbooks for General Science, at the Sind Board of Education level. In 1972 there was a need for dynamic leadership at the Board of Secondary Education - Sind. He left the B.V.S. and joined as the Chairman of the Secondary Board and held the post for eight years.

Divecha Master was also a very religious person and will always be remembered for his honesty. His will to learn and impart education to the "boys" of B.V.S was immense. For those who studied under him, we are truly blessed to have Divecha Master as a teacher. Rustom Divecha passed away on 11th January 1986. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
