 Founders History

Seth Jamshedji, the second son of the founder, continued to serve the community in different ways till his death. His greatest contribution was the munificent gift of 2,00,000/- he raised from the Soparivala family in 1920 to upgrade the school to the level of a full-fledged High School. His patriarchal personality will be familiar to many of the Virbaijeeites. As a member of the Parsi Anjuman, Chaiman of the School Board from 1915 to1931, Seth Jamshedji Shapurji Soparivala had rendered valuable service. The Following resolution mourning his loss was recorded;

Seth Jamshedji Shapurji Soparivala
  "The deceased, Jamshedji Seth Shapurji Soparivala, was associated with the school since 1915, when he was appointed its Chairman in succession of the late Seth Khurshedji Shapurji Soparivala. When the new constitution was framed and adopted in 1916, he was re-appointed the Chairman, which office he held till death, discharging his duties with a singleness of purpose and loyalty to the institution deserving of the highest praise. In 1920 the school was the recipient of a further sum of 2,00,000/- from the esteemed Soparivala family, the molety of which sum was contributed by Seth Jamshedji himself, thus translating into effect his deepest love and sympathy for the educational uplift of the members of his community in this city. The death of the patriarch, has removed from the scene of Parsi life, a very useful hand, the loss to this institution being in particular".
